One more picture

This time Phlippe ordered all the food, since he seems to be a specialist in Japanese fare. The shorts that Didk is not quite modeling were a gift from Marlyse, which she brought from Switzerland for the occasion.

More about the B'day Party

Dick's Birthday Party, April 21st

We had a great time! First, we had pre-dinner cocktails in our (Marlyse's and mine) Stateroom, and in addition to the people at our regular dinner table, I invited Dick's "Trivia" Companions, Arlene Robertson and Louise O'Shea. It was a little crowded in our tateroom with 10 people, but we manage3d, and Engin (the butler) outdid himself with the food he ordered for us. For the final segment, we were 8 at the dinner table: Dick, Ruth, Norman, Jane, Marlyse, Gayle, Philippe, and myself, and many people voiced their jealousy at what a good time we had every evening. We were always the very last table to leave the dining room!
Pictured here are the various people involved. Philippe tried to teach Norman how to use chop sticks, and he was obviously wquite proud when he could do so.

Barcelona and Bilboa

In Barcelon, the Fabers and I met up with the Steigers who had been on the WC 2009, and we went out for dinner. Norman and Nancy had also been in Miami when we started on the WC this year, and he took me to get a cane, which has been very helpful, and which I am still using.
In Bilboa there is a mixture of the old and the new. Ever since the Guggenheim Museum was built, the city is noticing a revival, and many new architectural items are visible, inclusing this unique entrance to the subway.

Last segment of WC with family

Marlyse came back for the last segment, in Rome, and Philippe and Gayle also came. They, along with Jane Hascall spent the pre-cruise evening in a hotel that Ludy arranged, in Rome, and in the morning, they all came to the ship. It was complicated getting permission for Ludy to drive his car into the secure area, but Ende gut, alles gut". The following day, the ship landed in Livorno and Ludy had driven there to meet us (he was driving back to Zürich, so it was "en route"). We drove all the way to San Gimignano for lunch, and the lovely thing was that the whole family was actually happy to be together!

Still trying to post pictures

This time, it's a picture of Güniz visitng on the Serenity (in Istanbul) and a dinner that we enjoyed that night at The Silk Road, a Nobu Japanese Restaurant on the Serenity. It was a fantastic dinner, and Dick did most of the ordering "as usual"
Jane Short and friend made up our table that night.

At home and catching up

It's Saturday , late in the day (May 15th) and I thought to upload some pictures and recapitulateevents in the last month of the World Cruise. However, for whatever reasons there were errors and my pictures didn't upload. This particular picture of me in Ephesis was taken just before a fantastic evening concert. I also wanted to upooad pictures of Güniz from Istanbul, but there is a mix-up. I'm sorry.
